Summary: Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will both get two 200 MP Leica cameras, a main camera and a periscope camera. The phones also get thinner bezels, a new privacy screen and big batteries. They launch in China on September 23.
Xiaomi is just a day away from launching its next flagship phones, and the company has saved its biggest reveal for the cameras. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will both use two 200 MP Leica cameras, one for the main and another one for the telephoto. This is a big jump over the previous generation.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Gets Dual 200MP Cameras
The main camera uses a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, while the zoom camera gets a 1/1.56-inch sensor. Bigger sensors take in more light, which usually means better photos at night and more natural background blur. The zoom camera offers 3.2x optical zoom and goes up to 12.8x in what Xiaomi calls lossless zoom. It can also focus on objects as close as 12cm, so it doubles as a macro camera for close-up shots.

Xiaomi says the zoom camera takes in 280% more light on the 18 Pro than on the Xiaomi 17 Pro. And 83% more on the 18 Pro Max than on the 17 Pro Max. The difference comes from last year’s phones, since the 17 Pro Max already had a bigger zoom sensor than the 17 Pro.
Both phones also get a new display with thinner borders, which are 0.99mm less compared to 1.18mm on the previous model. Xiaomi is adding a hardware-based privacy screen feature similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra that covers app notifications, floating windows, split-screen apps and lock screen alerts. A customizable AI button can reportedly enable it across the whole display with a single press.
The 18 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery and the 18 Pro Max gets an 8,500mAh one. Both support 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phones are expected to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips, with the Pro Max reportedly getting the more powerful Pro version.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series launches in China on September 23 at 7 PM local time. The company hasn’t said anything yet about a global release.
