But the big news is that it might be the last update for the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. Google launched the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on October 19, 2021, and they have received 5 years of promised software updates. But that window closes this month.

Both phones already got Android 17 QPR1, in September, which seems to be their final major update. Google has also confirmed they won’t get the Android 17 QPR2 beta, pointing that the October patch is likely their last monthly update.

Both the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro will keep working after this, but without security fixes, they might become more exposed to threats over time. The Pixel 6a, which runs the same Tensor G1 chip, launched in 2022 and stays supported until mid-2027.
