OnePlus has confirmed the launch date for its next flagship. The OnePlus 16 will be unveiled on October 12, as announced by OnePlus China president Li Jie Louis on Weibo. The confirmation came during the 2026 OnePlus Gaming Conference, where the company made it clear that gaming is the central focus of this phone.
OnePlus 16 is Launching with a 185Hz Display and Custom Gaming Hardware
OnePlus revealed three key gaming technologies for the OnePlus 16. The first is a new Fengchi Gaming Kernel, which OnePlus says can coordinate all of the phone’s hardware resources together for the first time. The should allow games running at native 185 FPS hold that frame rate for longer stretches without throttling.

The phone’s will feature a 185Hz refresh rate screen, which is one of the highest we have seen on a smartphone so far. It will also come with a custom three-chip system that OnePlus calls its esports hardware. It handles network connection, touch input and display output separately.
OnePlus claims this improves connection stability, makes touch response faster and makes the visuals smoother during gameplay. To back that up, the company showed a test where robotic arms controlled ten phones side by side on the same network and game, and the OnePlus 16 consistently fired and hit opponents before the others.
Four games have been confirmed with native 185 FPS support at launch, including Peace Elite, Arena Breakout, Nizhan: Future and Naruto Mobile. All of these are Chinese titles, and there is no word yet on whether global games like BGMI or Call of Duty: Mobile will also support 185 FPS.
The OnePlus 16 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, Qualcomm’s most powerful 2nm chip. OnePlus has already confirmed a 200 MP main camera and a 50 MP periscope telephoto, along with multiple color options and memory variants going up to 16 GB + 1 TB. More details are expected in the lead-up to the October 12 event.
