Apple has officially launched the HomeView, its first smart home display during its “Welcome Home” event today. The new smart home speaker brings together entertainment, communication, and home automation in a compact form factor with an interactive display. Let’s take a look at the Apple HomeView features, pricing and availability in India.
Apple HomeView Key Features
Early leaks and the announcements for Apple’s October 13th event already suggested a smart speaker refresh, but its finally here. HomeView is a new product category from Apple, featuring a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with adaptive True Tone and automatic brightness ranging from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits.
The automatically adjusts to users’ viewing distance, showing simpler content from across the room and more detail up close. The tabletop model has an aluminum body with a domed speaker base connected by a stainless steel hinge. From the looks of it, it has a retro 70s style aesthetic similar to the iMac G3.
The tabletop model packs two custom full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer, and two force-cancelling passive radiators for a loud and immersive audio experience. It supports Spatial Audio and uses computational audio to adjust loudness and bass in real time. Multi-room audio is also possible with HomePod, HomePod mini, and AirPlay-compatible speakers.
Smart Home and Siri AI
Since the HomeView is powered by Apple’s A18 chip, it can also double as a smart home hub. It can control cameras, thermostats, lights, locks, and blinds by touch or voice. HomeKit Secure Video provides end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, pets, packages, and vehicles.
Apple’s Siri AI is also available for assistance on the HomeView, with better conversational responses and onscreen awareness. This new Siri gains personal context when paired with Apple Intelligence-eligible devices. Apple has confirmed that Siri AI on the HomeView supports English in India.
The HomeView supports face recognition for up to 6 users, each getting a personalised Home Screen, apps, and widgets. It also supports FaceTime with Center Stage, Messages, Intercom across rooms, and hands-free recipe instructions with timers.
