Summary: Oppo has confirmed that its next software release, the ColorOS 17 will launch in Japan, on October 13, 2026. However, a tipster claims that the global launch in other regions will also happen on the same day for OnePlus and Realme phones, as OxygenOS and Realme UI are being retired.
Oppo launched ColorOS 17 in China last month, but now it seems to be preparing for its global debut. Oppo has officially confirmed a ColorOS 17 launch date for Japan, and a new report says the global launch could happen on the same day.
ColorOS 17 Could Launch Globally on October 13
Oppo Japan has shared a teaser on X, confirming that ColorOS 17 will launch in Japan on October 13, 2026. But soon after, tipster Noah Cat (@Cartidise) claimed in their post, that the global launch will take place on the same day. However, Oppo has not confirmed a global date yet.
ColorOS 17 is based on Android 17. It first released in China in September, and the rollout there started on October 8, 2026 with the Oppo Find X9 series, OnePlus 15 and Realme GT 8 Pro.
This is also the first update where OnePlus and Realme phones switch to ColorOS. Both brands have confirmed that OxygenOS and Realme UI are being retired, back in July. So, there will be no OxygenOS 17 or Realme UI 8. Eligible OnePlus and Realme phones will get ColorOS 17 as their Android 17 update.
As for features, ColorOS 17 brings a new Fluid Design, similar to Apple’s Liquid Glass design on iPhones. Buttons and sliders now stretch and bounce back when pressed. Oppo also claims that apps use 25% less memory and scroll up to 50% faster. There are new AI features as well, like AI Photo Editor, AI Notes, live call translation and scam call detection.
The Oppo Find X10 series that recently launched in China is among the first phones to come with ColorOS 17 out of the box. Followed by the OnePlus 16 launching on October 12.
